Ludwig Bernese Mountain Dog Adult Male for sale in Austin, Texas

My story
What can I do next for a treat?!' Ludwig is a handsome, fun, affectionate and highly intelligent pup. He has bright eyes and a happy smile, and his wagging nubbin of a tail is a delight! While he can be shy with new people, Ludwig's superpower is that he loves his humans with all his heart. He is very affectionate with his friends at the shelter, forms attachments quickly and has bonded very closely with his trainers. Ludwig frequently tries to climb his entire self into his human's lap, but will settle for just his front half in their lap with his head resting on their chest, giving sweet kisses while they pet him. Ludwig prefers playing with people instead of toys and would rather chase you around than run after tennis balls. Although he's always ready to party, Ludwig has a medium energy level and enjoys snuggling with his people on the couch as much as he does playing or taking long walks through the neighborhood. After a bit of adventuring, Ludwig tires out pretty easily and then is ready to settle down for some cuddles. Ludwig is also VERY enthusiastic about training and thinks training sessions are the best kind of playtime. This smart pup is always excited to see his trainer arrive because he knows it's time to practice his many skills and learn new ones. He's very eager to please and performs his commands enthusiastically, especially when treats are involved! Ludwig makes sure to keeps training fun with his goofy expressions and the adorable way he insists he knows best how to do new skills before adapting to the trainer's way. He has had hundreds of hours of training and is always eager to learn more (in exchange for treats of course). So it should come as no surprise that Ludwig's been thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program, so much so that he recently became TOP Dog Ready, which means he has already learned all the skills in his training plan! The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Dogs in the program learn skills including sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers, calmly walking past another dog, staying in a sit or down until told 'free,' coming when called and 'place', which means Ludwig will go to a specific place in your home on command. He is also house-trained and has successfully been left alone free roam in the home with no issues. And as part of APA's Total Obedience Program, you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Ludwig after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/ Beauty. Brains. Personality. Ludwig has it all! He'd love a home with a yard and people who are willing to continue his training. In return, Ludwig promises to keep you entertained and shower you with endless love and affection. Come meet this amazing pup!
