Up for sale is my 1971 Chevy Suburban. This has been my daily driver but I am putting too many miles on it with the job I have so I need something else. I have spent a lot of time and money getting it running and driving really nice. Here is a list of what I have done so far:
*Steering: New power steering box, hoses, pitman arm, and idling arm. I also added a front sway bar. As for the rest of the front suspension a mechanic has gone through it and given it his blessing. It drives great now.
*Rebuilt 4l60 transmission built with truck specs and includes a new torque converter with lockup to help with mileage. Still under warranty. Also had the speedo recalibrated so it works now too.
*New custom drive shaft with new yoke and new u-joints and carrier bearing.
*Connected to the drive shaft is a rear end with all new seals, bearings and axles.
*All new braking system new everything except power booster and front rotors they were still in fine shape.
*Rear suspension has all new bushings (trailing arms have yet to be installed but I do have the parts).
*New kyb shocks all the way around.
*New windshield and gasket
*New front driver window regulator.
*New tires all the way around.
*When I had the transmission done I had the rear main seal and oil pan gasket replaced and now the truck doesn?t leak anything!
*New fuel sending unit in a ?73 32 gallon tank and gauge is working now too.
*New dash pad
*Replaced most of the bulbs and all the lights work.
*Installed new side mirrors.
*AC hoses have been replaced and now is fully operational and is cold. It has the rear AC unit with the tunnel up to the front
The engine ('73 307 V8 truck engine) has a rebuilt (new to the truck) edelbrock 1406 carb with electric choke and a new coil on the HEI distributor and all new tune up parts. It also has new belts and new thermostat. The engine does smoke and I have had 2 mechanics say that the valve stem seals need to be replaced. The engine runs strong even though it smokes.
The body it is in amazing shape with very little rust. The only rust that I can find is on the upper back hatch and a spot on the back driver quarter panel. As far as I can tell it has never been in an accident. The paint isn?t original or the stock color but the paint seems to be in good shape.
Since I bought the truck I have primarily spent my time and money on the drive train and it all has been gone through and is either new, rebuilt, or blessed by a mechanic to be in good working order. The only thing I haven?t got to yet is the smoking engine. So besides the engine the only things still needed are all the weather stripping and pretty parts. I have about 8k invested into it not including the purchase price of the truck.
