Victorian Candle Holders for sale in Austin, Texas

$700

The Victorian era came to an end with the passing of Queen Victoria in 1901. Though styles lingered until around 1915. From the late 1800's electric light bulbs began taking over in the cities, but small towns and country homes were still lit by candles, gas and oil lamps up until world war 1. These wonderful, formal, large Towle Sterling Silver Candleholders with etched glass candle light shades stand 16" tall! The mark reads TOWLE STERLING--WEIGHTED AND REINFORCED--043. They are rare. Especially in this condition and being they are a matched pair. They are very elegant and were used for formal ocassions in "well to do" homes. (Common lamps were plain) Their overall condition is excellent; I polished the silver, but there is still a small amout of wax residue and they can be polished better. There are some very small "fleabites" and one very small chip at the top of one globe. The other globe is perfect. There are no pits, bends or dings in the silver. The glass globes fit well into their bases. There are air passages for brighter burning with no sputtering and these wonderful candle holders can still be used today for that romantic dinner or for the right touch for a formal table, or even on that rare ocassion when the electricity fails. You'll be surprized at how beautiful they are (and how well they work) when lit and there is no other lighting. If you have any other questions, please email us. Thanks for looking!!! $700.00
