Doak German Shepherd Dog Adult Male in Austin, Texas

My story
Doak is in a world that's very new to him - and he's learning to like it! Now in foster care, this timid boy is discovering that humans can actually be quite nice, and he's starting to approach them. He's beginning to get curious about his surroundings. He's very curious about toys and now he likes to carry them around and play with them. And he wants to play with his doggie housemates. He's finding out that life can be such fun! This sweet boy still tucks his tail and tries to avoid new people and unfamiliar sights and sounds. But he likes to take lots of short leash walks and walks well, just pulling some or running around his foster if he sees something 'scary.' At home, his crate is his security blanket. He retreats there after his walks and lounges most of the day. He's happy to share it with his dog buddies if they wander in. He's making progress on his house-training, and does well in his crate when his fosters are away. Doak will love a home with a patient parent who can continue slowly introducing him to new experiences and taking him on low traffic walks. He will be happy as the only pet, or will enjoy dog buddies. He is heartworm positive, but all that means is that he'll need a couple of months of rest during treatment, at APA!'s expense. Come meet him. He'll be shy at first, but he'll check you out and decide you're his new best friend!
